Orthodox teas are high quality-teas produced using traditional methods which have been passed down via generations of tea growers and processors. These teas are mainly grown in a particular region recognized for its perfect developing 5, inclusive of higher altitude, better quality soil, and a favourable climate.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS:

Manufacturing of Orthodox teas comprises of hand-picking the tea leaves and thoroughly processing them to create a selection of tea types,which includes,black, green, oolong, and white tea. The processing technique used in production of Orthodox teas differ based on the types of tea being produced, but generally contains withering, rolling, oxidizing, and drying the tea leaves. 


TYPES OF ORTHODOX TEAS 

Given below are  some of the most popular types of Orthodox teas:

(i) Black tea: Black tea is the most traditional tea made by going through the process of withering, rolling, oxidizing, and drying the leaves.Popular Black teas include Assam, Darjeeling, Ceylon, and Keemun.   


(ii) Green tea: Green tea is manufactured by steaming s or pan frying the the leaves so that it stops the oxidation process and preserves the natural green color of leaves which results in delicate flavour . Popular green tea includes tulsi green tea, lemon green tea, chamomile green tea, etc. 


(iii)Oolong tea : Ooolng tea is a partially oxidised tea that lies in between black and green tea in the matter of flavour and caffeine contain. It is usually rolled into special shapes and has a floral and fruity aroma.


(iv)White tea : White tea is made  from the newest grown buds and unfurled leaves of the tea plant, which are carefully hand-picked and withered quickly which prevents the leaves from oxidising .White tea has a delicate and sweet flavour which consisits of higher antioxidants .



REGIONS IT IS FOUND IN INDIA 

Orthodox teas are grown in different reagions in India, mainly in the regions with suitable climate, altitude and soil conditon for tea cultivation.Some popular region where orthodox cultivation is done are:

(i)Darjeeling: Located in the foothills of Himalayas in west Bengal known for producing high-quality black, green, oolong, and white with particular floral and fruity flavours.


(ii)Assam:Located in Northeast India mainly known for producing strong and malty black teas.


(iii)Nilgiri: Located in the Southern states of Himachal Pradesh which produces tea with distinctive flavour which is often described as nutty, with a hint of citrus.
